Zomato Analog Paneer : Lifestyle Desk. Online food delivery platform Zomato has banned the sale of dishes made from analog dairy on its platform. The company has said that it will adopt zero tolerance policy in this matter. According to Zomato, the listings of restaurants which do not follow the rules may be removed from the platform. The company has taken this step to provide correct information about the ingredients used in food and keeping in mind the interest of the customers.

Analog dairy dish removed

Zomato said that some restaurants themselves had informed about the use of analog dairy in their dishes. Such dishes have been immediately removed from the platform. The company says that the customer should know which ingredients are being used in his food. Therefore, action will be taken if wrong or incomplete information is given in the menu.

What will restaurants have to do?

The company has advised its restaurant partners to use genuine dairy products. If it is not immediately possible for a restaurant to do so, it will have to remove dishes containing analog dairy from the menu. Along with this, restaurants have been asked to check the labels and ingredients of the products they receive from their suppliers. It will also be necessary to provide correct information about the ingredients used on Zomato’s platform.

Listing may be removed if rules are broken

Zomato has clarified that action can be taken against restaurants hiding the use of analog dairy. If the menu contains incorrect information about a dish or the ingredients used are not clear, its listing may be removed. The company’s emphasis is on providing transparent information to food ingredients to the customers.

Analog dairy is a product in which other substances are used in place of real milk or dairy ingredients. The taste and appearance of these products may sometimes resemble genuine dairy products. For example, analog cheese may use vegetable oils, starches, and other ingredients instead of milk. FSSAI had also issued notice

In April 2026, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India i.e. FSSAI had issued a public notice regarding analog dairy products. It was said that selling analog or cheese analog in the name of Paneer is a violation of the rules. Food businesses were advised to clearly declare such products on menus as non-dairy or analog.

NHRC also asked for information

National Human Rights Commission i.e. NHRC has also sent notice to FSSAI and all the states and union territories regarding analog cheese. The Commission has sought information to the use, nutrition and possible effects of analog cheese on health. Apart from this, information has also been sought about the methods being adopted for testing and identification of such products.

Controversy was to Zomato even before

Zomato has already come into controversy regarding analog paneer. In October last year, questions were raised on social media regarding the company’s supply service Hyperpure. It was alleged that analog cheese was being sold through this service. The company was also criticized regarding this issue. Now Zomato has said that it will take a strict stance regarding analog dairy dishes on its food delivery platform.
