Delhi Rape Case: A case raising serious questions regarding women’s safety has once again come to light in the country’s capital Delhi. An incident of alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old student has come to light in a sleeper bus running between Greater Noida and Kashmiri Gate in Delhi. The bus driver and conductor have been accused in the case. Kashmiri Gate police station has arrested both the accused.
The sleeper bus used in the crime is in the possession of police.
According to the police, the incident is reported to have taken place on August 4, 2026. After receiving information about the case, Kashmiri Gate police station started investigation and arrested both the accused driver and conductor. The sleeper bus in which the incident allegedly took place has also been taken into custody by the police and further legal action is being taken in the matter.
The victim studies in class 11th
The victim is a 16-year-old student hailing from Mainpuri district and studying in class 11th. It has been told that on August 3, 2026, the student got angry with her mother’s scolding and left the house without informing her. His intention was to go to his cousin’s house living in Noida Sector-63.
Boarded a sleeper bus to go to Noida
After leaving home, the student boarded a sleeper bus going from Greater Noida to Delhi to go to Noida Sector-63. It is alleged that during this time the driver and conductor allegedly gang-raped her.
Police started investigating the case
After information about the incident came to light, Kashmiri Gate police station started investigating the matter. Along with arresting both the accused, the police have also taken the bus used in the crime into their custody. Police are investigating other aspects to the case.
Nirbhaya case came to light in 2012
It is noteworthy that earlier in Delhi, on 16 December 2012, there was an incident of gang rape of Nirbhaya in a moving bus in Vasant Vihar area. After the incident, he was thrown on the road in critical condition. His companion Avanindra was also present in the bus during the incident.
Four convicts were hanged in 2020
Six people including Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta were accused in the Nirbhaya case. An accused named Ram Singh had committed suicide by hanging himself in jail, while a minor accused was released from the reform home. Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta, convicted in the case, were hanged at 5:30 am on 20 March 2020.
