New Delhi: The effect of monsoon continues in many parts of the country. On Monday, August 31, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in about 18 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana. There is also a possibility of strong winds along with rain.
In some areas the wind speed can reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. The risk of landslides has also increased due to heavy rains in the hilly states. Due to increase in the water level of many rivers, the flood situation in the plains remains serious.
Alert of heavy rain in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya. Apart from this, special caution has been advised regarding rain in some parts of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Clouds will rain in many districts of UP
There is a possibility of heavy rain in many districts of Uttar Pradesh including Noida, Meerut, Moradabad, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Gonda, Barabanki and Varanasi. There may be strong winds along with rain in Lucknow.
Due to continuous rain, the problem of waterlogging in low-lying areas of the state may increase. People have been advised to be careful keeping in mind the alert of the Meteorological Department.
Heavy rain in Delhi and Bihar also
There is forecast of heavy rain in the capital Delhi on 31st August. People can get relief from humidity due to rain. The maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR is likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius.
In Bihar, there is an alert of heavy rain in many districts including Patna, Gaya, Gopalganj, Saran, West Champaran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj and Araria. A warning has also been issued in Jharkhand regarding heavy rain.
Danger of landslides increased in the mountains
There is a possibility of landslides with heavy rains in many parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The danger may increase further due to increase in the water level of rivers and drains in hilly areas. The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to stay away from rivers, streams and landslide-sensitive areas and follow the advisory of the local administration.
