Today, Monday, August 31, is the last date for eligible candidates to apply for roles with the 8th Central Pay Commission. The Commission has invited applications for the posts of Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Young Professional on a contractual basis. A total of up to 20 appointments will be made.
Those selected for these positions will assist the Commission with tasks related to salaries, allowances, pensions, compensation, data analysis, and legal research. Notably, a full-time Senior Consultant can receive a fixed monthly remuneration of up to ₹1.8 lakh.

The Commission has designated posts across three categories:

What are the eligibility criteria?
Candidates holding a Master’s degree or an MBA in Finance, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related subjects can apply for these posts. There are also opportunities for candidates from the legal field; individuals with an LLB degree, enrollment with a Bar Council or Bar Association, and experience in legal research or handling service matters before tribunals or courts are eligible. Proficiency and experience in using Excel, spreadsheets, and presentation tools are required for all three categories. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pay structures, compensation, or establishment matters.
What does the job entail?
Selected consultants will assist the Commission in analyzing salaries, allowances, pensions, and existing pay structures. Additionally, the role may involve analyzing data and surveys, conducting legal research, coordinating with government departments, and undertaking special studies related to HR and compensation. Responsibilities include examining representations received by the Commission, estimating the fiscal impact of recommendations, and preparing reports and presentations.
What is the remuneration, and how can one apply?
The fixed monthly remuneration is as follows:
Senior Consultant: ₹1.8 lakh (full-time), ₹90,000 (for 12 working days), and ₹45,000 (for 6 working days).
Consultant: ₹1.2 lakh (full-time), ₹60,000 (for 12 working days), and ₹30,000 (for 6 working days).
Young Professional: ₹90,000 (full-time), ₹45,000 (for 12 working days), and ₹22,500 (for 6 working days).
Applicable taxes and cesses will be deducted at source. The appointment will initially be for one year or until the end of the Commission's tenure, whichever is earlier. The tenure may be extended based on performance.
