Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United player Amad Diallo.
As per a report from 225 Foot, Aston Villa have made an unexpected approach to sign the player before the transfer window shuts. They are understood to have submitted a firm offer to Manchester United. It remains to be seen whether they can complete a deal for the 24-year-old.
Diallo was an influential figure for Michael Carrick last season, and he will want to play regularly at this stage of his career. If Manchester United are able to give him the required assurances, remaining at the club would be the ideal outcome for him. However, if Manchester United choose to use Bryan Mbeumo on the right wing instead of Diallo, then a move elsewhere could be the best option for the 24-year-old.
Aston Villa can offer him regular game time as well as a competitive stage. They assembled a strong squad and won the UEFA Europa League last season. This time, they will aim to leave their mark in the Champions League. To perform well in the league and in Europe, they need greater quality and depth in the squad.
The 24-year-old Manchester United attacker is capable of playing on either wing, and he would help create chances for his team-mates. He would bring speed, intent and unpredictability in the final third.
Aston Villa are also closing in on the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye. It seems they are looking to reshape their attacking department with a long-term view. It will be interesting to see whether they can persuade Manchester United to sell the player before the transfer window closes.
Diallo is under contract with Manchester United until 2030, and Aston Villa may have to pay a premium to sign him.
