The company said that it is not publishing this book in India. He also termed the news regarding editorial change as wrong. According to the company, it is the normal work of the publisher to check the information given in any book before printing it. Congress leaders have raised different questions on this matter.

What did the penguin say?

Penguin Random House India presented its stand on social media platform X. The company clarified that it is not the publisher of this book in India. The company also said that it is not true that it refused to print the book because of Sonia Gandhi’s refusal to make editorial changes.

According to Penguin, before publishing a book, it is necessary to check the things and facts written in it. Apart from this, it is also the general responsibility of the publisher to give advice to the author regarding the book. The company said that it will not provide any further information about the personal conversation with Sonia Gandhi.

Congress leaders raised questions

After the cleaning of the penguin, Congress leaders raised questions on this entire matter. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot alleged that the company was under pressure to remove some parts. According to Gehlot, during the time of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS and Modi government, pressure was created in the book to remove the parts to the occupation of Indian land by China. He says that Sonia Gandhi refused to make changes, after which the publication of the book in India was withdrawn. Gehlot called it a serious matter to freedom of expression. At the same time, other Congress leaders also questioned that if the book is being published in foreign countries, then why is there a problem in its publication in India.

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath also raised questions on this matter. He asked on X whether any publisher would decide what a senior leader like Sonia Gandhi should and should not write in his book. He also questioned whether the company itself is taking such a decision or is there any kind of pressure on it.

Let us tell you that, at present, it is not completely clear who will publish the book in India and who will be its distributor. However, its e-book version can be pre-ordered on Amazon for Rs 2,615. According to Amazon information, the e-book is published by William Collins, which is part of HarperCollins UK.
