Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar has been elected president of the Esports Games Federation (ESGF), a body set up as a rival to the Esports Federation of India. The federation aims to strengthen India’s esports ecosystem by promoting player development, competitions and global participation.
New Delhi, Aug 28: Noted sports administrator and Minister of Electronics, IT, AI and Cultural Affairs in the Maharashtra Government, Adv. Ashish Shelar, will head the E Sports Games Federation (ESGF), the body set up as a rival to Esports Federation of India.
Shelar, who is also a cricket administrator and is currently a board member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), was elected president at the ESGF Board Meeting held in New Delhi on Friday. His name was proposed by ESGF founder and acting president Adv. Nandan Jha and chairperson Ashok Dhyanchand.

The proposal was seconded by ESGF secretary general Gursharan Singh. The proposal received unanimous support from all the members and State Representatives present at the meeting.
