Health Desk. Gas formation in the stomach is a common problem. Wrong eating habits, eating too fast, too much fried food and sitting for a long time can cause gas, flatulence or feeling of heaviness. Adopting some easy habits can help in reducing this problem.
1. Eat slowly
Make a habit of chewing food thoroughly and eating slowly. Eating too quickly can cause excess air to enter the stomach, which can increase the problem of gas and flatulence.
2. Take a short walk after eating
Instead of lying down immediately after meals, take a light walk for some time. This can help in keeping the digestion process better and also reduce heaviness in the stomach.
3. Reduce things that increase gas
If you have gas again and again after eating certain foods, then reduce their consumption. It is better to stay away from too much fried, spicy food and carbonated drinks.
4. Drink enough water
Drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day is essential for digestion. Also, keep the amount of fiber in your diet balanced and make daily physical activity a part of your daily routine.
