According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a public holiday has been declared for banks on August 25 under the 'Negotiable Instruments Act' to mark the occasion of Milad-i-Sherif (also coinciding with 'First Onam' in some regions).

August 25 is listed as a bank holiday in the RBI's official schedule due to the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and the commencement of the Onam festival in certain regions.

Where will banks remain closed tomorrow, August 25?

According to the RBI's holiday matrix, holidays are determined based on festivals in different states and banking circles across the country:

Regions observing the holiday: All government and private bank branches will remain closed in Kerala (Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram) and in the respective circles observing Milad-i-Sherif/First Onam.

States where banks will remain open: In states or cities where the main holiday for Eid-e-Milad falls on the following day—August 26—banks will operate normally on August 25.

Digital banking services will remain fully operational.

Customers will not face significant inconvenience despite the closure of bank branches. In this era of digital banking, you can complete your financial transactions online:

ATM services: Cash withdrawal and deposit facilities will remain available. Net Banking & Mobile Apps: Fund transfers (NEFT/IMPS/RTGS) via UPI, net banking, and mobile banking will continue without interruption.

If you have pending tasks such as cheque deposits, draft issuance, or over-the-counter transactions, please verify the status with your local bank branch or use net banking to save time.
