Halwa, puri and black gram are offered as part of the bhog, after which girls aged two to ten years are called home and served food and are sent off with gifts. However, one should avoid offering fruits like lemon, tamarind, dry coconut, pear and fig in worship, and offering mutilated or stale fruits is also considered prohibited in the scriptures.

Red color is considered especially dear to the mother, hence there is a tradition of offering red chunri and vermillion along with red hibiscus or Kaner flowers. Lighting a lamp of pure cow ghee in the evening is also said to be very auspicious. By putting two cloves in a burning lamp and keeping them in front of the Goddess during puja, the negative energy in the house is removed and positivity is infused.
