A very relieving news has come to the fore for crores of people who book LPG cylinders every month and then wait for its delivery for several days. The Central Government is now going to expand the work of delivering Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to every household across the country.
Taking a big step in this direction, the government has taken an important decision to implement a new incentive scheme. This masterplan will greatly help in rapidly expanding the network of PNG connections in the urban areas of the country.
New incentive scheme will be implemented from September 1
The Central Government has officially announced the implementation of the new APM/NAPM incentive scheme in the entire country from September 1, 2026. Under this special scheme, companies associated with City Gas Distribution will be given huge financial incentives for providing new domestic PNG connections more than the fixed target. That is, the more families the companies connect to the gas network through pipeline, the more benefit they will get from the government.
Gas distribution companies will get cheap gas
According to the rules made under the scheme, a provision has been made to provide additional cheap APM gas up to 200 SCM on each new connection to the companies which start new PNG connections more than their set target. The government clearly believes that this step will significantly reduce the total operating costs of gas companies. Lower costs will enable companies to invest much faster to expand pipeline networks to new areas and societies.
Expectation of recovery of investment cost of companies soon
According to government estimates, with the receipt of this new incentive, the money spent by the companies in creating the gas network infrastructure will be recovered much sooner than before. This will increase the enthusiasm of the companies and the process of laying PNG pipelines in new residential areas and providing immediate connections to more and more families is expected to accelerate tremendously.
Facility to apply for PNG connection sitting at home
Keeping in mind the convenience of common consumers, the government is fully prepared to launch an integrated PNG registration portal. This will work as a single-window platform, where common citizens will be able to easily apply for a new PNG connection online from the comfort of their homes.
Apart from this, consumers will also be able to track the status of their application online on this portal. With this, the entire process of getting new connections will become transparent, easy and very convenient and people will not have to visit offices.
