The political debate intensified after an old video of a government school in Punjab surfaced. Arvind Kejriwal, citing the school visit of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, put forward the reforms done in government schools.
Education and health always priority of AAP: Kejriwal
On Tuesday, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that I am very happy that today education and schools are being discussed in the entire country and it has become a mass movement, which should have happened long ago. Education and health have always been the two most important issues for Aam Aadmi Party and we believe that no country can progress without providing excellent and free education and health care to its citizens, as these are the foundation of any country’s development.
Claim of improvement in Punjab’s schools after Delhi
Arvind Kejriwal said that AAP made many reforms in the government schools first in Delhi and then in Punjab, due to which many schools have now become better than the best private schools. There are thousands of such examples in both Delhi and Punjab where parents have shifted their children from private schools to government schools.
Basic facilities will soon be available in other schools also
Arvind Kejriwal said that the work of improving government schools in Punjab is going on and basic facilities have been provided in most of the schools except a few. Soon the remaining schools will also have these facilities. Today many government schools of Punjab are competing with the best private schools in terms of facilities and quality of education.
Reference to Education Minister’s visit on old video
Arvind Kejriwal said that today someone had posted an old video of a government school in Punjab. I am happy that the Education Minister himself visited that school to take stock of the ground reality and people must read the Education Minister’s report.
