RB Leipzig have moved swiftly to reinvest the huge fee received from Yan Diomande’s transfer to Real Madrid, with the Bundesliga club now advancing towards a double swoop for two players from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. The German side have reportedly reached full agreement on personal terms with both Samir El Mourabet and former Chelsea winger Diego Moreira as they aim to reshape their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Leipzig identify Diomande replacement

After the high-profile exit of Diomande, who has now officially completed a stunning switch to Real Madrid, RB Leipzig have wasted no time in identifying the next wave of talent. The German club, well known for spotting and developing elite young players, have turned to the French top division to fill the gap left behind by the Ivory Coast international.

Former Chelsea winger Moreira has emerged as the leading candidate to take Diomande’s place. The Belgium international, who moved to Strasbourg after a brief spell at Stamford Bridge, has already given his approval to the transfer, according to Foot Mercato.

Double raid on Strasbourg

The chase for Moreira is only one part of a planned double move involving Chelsea’s BlueCo sister club. Leipzig have also made major headway in their bid to sign El Mourabet, another highly rated young talent currently developing at the Stade de la Meinau.

These two deals mark a significant step forward in Leipzig’s summer recruitment drive. By first securing the players’ approval, the Red Bull-backed club have increased the pressure on Strasbourg to negotiate. The French club has regularly become a target for Europe’s top teams because of its emphasis on youth development, but losing two important prospects at the same time would seriously test the depth of their squad.

Negotiations enter critical phase

Although both players are prepared to make the move, RB Leipzig still need to persuade Strasbourg to sell. The Ligue 1 club are expected to negotiate firmly, fully aware of the sizeable amount Leipzig have just received from Diomande’s sale.

Talks between the two clubs are now set to become the main focus, with Leipzig keen to bring both players in quickly to ensure a smooth pre-season transition. However, Strasbourg have already dealt with major squad turnover this summer, most notably with club captain Emmanuel Emegha and versatile midfielder Valentin Barco leaving for Chelsea. With those significant departures already completed, the French side are certain to demand large guaranteed fees as well as attractive add-ons before approving another double exit.

The moves for Moreira and El Mourabet fit perfectly with RB Leipzig’s long-established policy of signing players with strong resale value and enormous potential.
