There is good news for young people preparing for government jobs in the railways. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the application process for the recruitment of 3,993 posts of Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS). Interested and eligible candidates can apply online starting August 14, 2026. The deadline for applications is September 13, 2026. Candidates must select only one RRB zone when applying.

Applying to more than one RRB zone may result in the cancellation of all applications. Details regarding eligibility, age limit, exam pattern, and fees are provided below.

**Applications accepted until September 13**
Online applications for the RRB JE recruitment 2026 began on August 14. Candidates can submit their forms until September 13. The deadline for paying the application fee is September 15. If any changes need to be made to the form, a correction window will be available from September 16 to 25; a revised fee of ₹250 will be charged for this.

For the JE post, a three-year diploma or a B.E./B.degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required. For the DMS post, a three-year diploma or degree in any engineering discipline is required. Candidates must be between 18 and 33 years of age. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates will be applicable.

**100 questions in CBT-I; one-third negative marking**
The selection process comprises CBT-I, CBT-II, document verification, and a medical test. CBT-I will be a screening test, and its marks will not be included in the final merit list. It will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes. The paper will include 30 questions on Mathematics, 25 on Reasoning, 15 on General Awareness, and 30 on General Science. One-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. 

For CBT-I, a minimum of 40% marks is required for UR/EWS candidates, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC candidates, and 25% for ST candidates. Based on the results of CBT-I, candidates numbering 15 times the vacancies of each RRB will be shortlisted for CBT-II. Subsequently, document verification and a medical test will be conducted based on merit.
