Arsenal are in talks over a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah to the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to Sky Sports. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his options at centre-back after William Saliba suffered a long-term injury at the World Cup. Arsenal have also been tracking Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, but a deal to bring the England international to North London has proved difficult. As a result, they have started exploring other options, with his Three Lions teammate Quansah now emerging as a target.
That said, the Bundesliga side are not keen to part ways with the former Liverpool player, and Arsenal would have to pay considerably more than the £30 million Bayer Leverkusen spent to sign him last summer. Only seven Bundesliga players scored more goals from set-pieces than the 23-year-old last season, when he netted four times in 28 league appearances.
Quansah is also capable of playing at right-back, and Arsenal will be hopeful of getting a deal for him completed.
