Juventus are still keen on a possible deal for Joshua Zirkzee, and reports in Italy say Manchester United’s decision to bring England international Marcus Rashford back into the first-team fold has strengthened the Bianconeri’s hopes of landing the former Bologna striker.

After signing Randal Kolo Muani and Jeff Ekhator for the centre-forward role, Luciano Spalletti is still looking to add one more attacking option in this transfer window, particularly if Jonathan David leaves.

In recent weeks, reports in Italy have connected Juventus with a move for Manchester United forward Zirkzee, who joined Old Trafford from Bologna for €42.5m in the summer of 2024.

Zirkzee has not been able to reproduce the level he showed in his final Serie A season during the two years he has spent in the Premier League, and he has repeatedly been linked with a return to Italy’s top division since then.

With Michael Carrick now in charge at Manchester United, and after the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko last summer, Zirkzee has slipped further down the attacking hierarchy at Old Trafford.

And with the latest update that Rashford will be ‘reintegrated’ into the Manchester United squad after loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona over the past 18 months, consistent playing time could be difficult for Zirkzee to secure this season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are interested in a loan move, possibly with an option to buy, but are not currently in a position to complete a permanent transfer at this point in the season. There have also been claims that United are prepared to let Zirkzee leave on loan this summer.

On 20 May, 2025, Zirkzee was seen during a Manchester United training session at Carrington Training Ground ahead of the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final against Tottenham Hotspur in Manchester, England.

A reported net salary of €3.5m per season is also not expected to create any major problem for Juventus.

The only real ‘obstacle’, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, is that the club must first move Canada international David before making another attacking signing this summer.

Zirkzee has scored nine goals and registered four assists in 75 appearances across all competitions over his last two seasons with Manchester United.

In 2023-24, he scored 11 goals and supplied five assists in 34 Serie A appearances, helping Bologna qualify for a historic Champions League campaign under Thiago Motta, while also being named the league’s U23 player of the year.
