Harry Kane joining Manchester United appears unlikely, at least in the near future.
For several years, the prolific England striker has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
However, even though the speculation continues to circulate in the transfer rumour mill, the Red Devils have not made any concrete attempt to sign him.
The consistent line has been that the club admire him, but have not shown enough intent to actively push through a deal.
It was previously revealed that former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was very keen on bringing in Kane, but the club chose to sign Rasmus Hojlund instead.
Significantly, in the same summer that the Danish forward arrived at United, Kane completed his move to Bayern Munich.
Years later, Hojlund has struggled at United, while Kane has been an outstanding success in Germany. The England captain’s performances for the Bundesliga giants have kept alive United’s long-standing interest, with reports suggesting Sir Jim Ratcliffe would love to bring him in.
Even so, such a transfer may not materialise, with Teamtalk reporting:
“Despite the interest from Barcelona and Tottenham and Manchester United’s willingness to consider a deal, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe known to be an admirer, Kane has not been chasing a move.
“His commitment to Bayern is clear, and the club are equally determined to keep him.”
With United looking at an alternative to Benjamin Sesko, and Joshua Zirkzee seemingly set to leave, Kane would have represented an excellent signing. But he is understood to feel settled at Bayern, and there has even been talk of a new agreement between the striker and the German club.
Unfortunately for United, it now appears increasingly likely that the club’s failure to act on Ten Hag’s transfer preference may have cost them the opportunity to have one of England’s greatest strikers in their squad.
Overall credibility: 6/10 Why? ✅ United’s interest in Harry Kane has been widely reported over the years ⚠️ Reported by an outlet that is more speculative than factual ⚠️ No concrete moves from United have been reported in an attempt to sign the striker
TPP view
We believe there is nothing substantial in the Harry Kane to United links, considering no concrete steps have yet been taken to bring the Bayern Munich striker to Old Trafford.
