Scholarship for MP Students: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced the launch of a new scholarship scheme for meritorious students. Under the 'Bhagwan Shri Krishna Medhavi Chhatravritti Yojana,' 102 meritorious students from the state will receive a scholarship of ₹1 lakh each every year. The government states that the scheme seeks to connect the youth with Indian knowledge traditions, culture, art, and holistic education. The scheme will cover students ranging from the school level to college and university levels. The framework of the scheme—including eligibility, the selection process, and the evaluation method—will be prepared by the 'Shri Krishna Pathya Nyas' (Shri Krishna Curriculum Trust).
102 Students to Receive Scholarships Annually
According to Shri Ram Tiwari, the Cultural Advisor to the Chief Minister, a total of 102 scholarships will be awarded annually under the scheme. Of these, 51 scholarships are designated for school-level students. This category includes students studying in government schools, central government schools, schools under the Tribal Affairs Department, aided schools, and private schools. The remaining 51 scholarships are reserved for students pursuing higher education. The higher education category will include students enrolled in programs such as ITI, IIT, medical studies, technical courses, and journalism, as well as private candidates and researchers.
Scheme Based on 14 *Vidyas* (Disciplines of Knowledge) and 64 *Kalas* (Arts)
According to the government, the objective of this scholarship is not merely to honor the academic achievements of students but also to encourage them to develop various skills inspired by the concepts of the 14 *Vidyas* and 64 *Kalas* associated with Lord Shri Krishna. Shri Ram Tiwari stated that the initiative aims to connect the new generation with India's cultural heritage by drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Lord Shri Krishna. He remarked that, in today's context, Lord Shri Krishna could even be described as the first 'Gen Z' individual. According to them, Shri Krishna performed extraordinary feats at a young age and later acquired knowledge of the 14 *Vidyas* (branches of knowledge) and 64 *Kalas* (arts) in Ujjain under the guidance of Maharshi Sandipani.
How will the selection for the scholarship take place?
Students must register for this scheme via the online website. Subsequently, they will be required to answer an online questionnaire comprising more than 30 questions based on prescribed topics. Each candidate will be presented with a unique set of questions. If the number of successful candidates exceeds the available scholarships, the final selection among the eligible candidates will be made through a lottery system. However, the framework regarding eligibility and the selection process for the scheme is yet to be finalized by the Shri Krishna Pathya Nyas.
