Under this initiative, the number of general and sleeper coaches will be increased across thousands of trains to ensure better facilities for passengers during their journeys.

According to the Railways, 3,200 long-distance trains will be transitioned to 24-coach LHB rakes. A key feature of this plan is the emphasis on including at least 4 general coaches and 6 to 8 sleeper coaches in every train. This change will particularly benefit passengers who often face significant difficulties traveling during festivals and holidays due to overcrowding.
