Teej Festival Celebrated at Delhi Haat

New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta participated in the “Teej Festival” organized by the Delhi Tourism Department at Delhi Haat, INA, on Saturday. The cultural festival featured colorful costumes, folk traditions, and a festive atmosphere. The Chief Minister shared the joy of Teej with the women and attendees and observed the activities organized to promote Indian culture and folk heritage. She said that Teej is not just a festival, but a celebration of our rich cultural traditions, family values, and women’s empowerment. Such events not only spread our folk culture to the new generation but also strengthen the spirit of harmony and love in society.

Delhi Tourism Minister Mr. Kapil Mishra, Greater Kailash MLA Mrs. Shikha Roy, and other dignitaries were also present at the event. The Chief Minister said that the government is continuously encouraging such events to enrich Delhi’s diverse cultural identity. Platforms like Dilli Haat are an important medium to showcase our folk art, handicrafts, traditional cuisine, and cultural heritage to the nation and the world. Events like the Teej Festival strengthen the spirit of “vocal for local” and provide new opportunities to artisans and small entrepreneurs.

Wishing all Delhiites a happy Teej festival, the Chief Minister said that the beauty of our culture lies in its diversity and vibrant traditions. Such festivals provide an opportunity to connect with our roots, cherish our traditions, and pass them on to future generations. He congratulated the Delhi Tourism Department for the successful organization of the festival and urged all citizens to participate enthusiastically in such cultural events.

Organized by the Delhi Government, the two-day Teej Festival is being held on August 8th and 9th at Dilli Haat in Pitampura and INA. The objective of the festival is to celebrate women’s empowerment, love for nature, and traditional values ​​through Teej and to connect Delhiites and tourists from different parts of the country with Indian culture. To promote traditional arts and crafts, the festival organized mehndi, bindi, and rangoli competitions. Additionally, on August 9th, competitions such as “Teej Queen – Miss Teej 2026” and “Best Dressed Female” will be held at both Dilli Haats to provide women and participants with the opportunity to showcase their creativity and traditional attire. Special prizes will also be awarded to the winners.

To make the festival attractive to all age groups, activities such as a kids’ zone for children, swings and surprise gifts for women, and musical chairs for all are being organized. These activities combine the traditional joy of Teej with modern entertainment. The government is also applying mehndi to women on this occasion.

The festival features approximately 20 culinary stalls, along with 80 handicraft and handloom product stalls. This provides visitors with an opportunity to experience the diversity of traditional Indian cuisine and handicrafts, while also promoting the products of local artisans and craftspeople. The festival venue has been specially decorated with theme-based decorations, making Dilli Haat an engaging cultural experience for visitors. Both Delhiites and tourists from other states are getting the opportunity to experience the traditions of Teej and the diversity of Indian culture.

On this occasion, Delhi Tourism Minister Mr. Kapil Mishra said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s glorious traditions and rich cultural heritage are being continuously promoted to the masses through grand celebrations. Building on last year’s success, this year’s Teej Festival has been organized with great enthusiasm, with a large number of mothers and sisters from the capital participating enthusiastically at INA Dilli Haat and Pitampura Dilli Haat. He said that this two-day special event features various attractions for women, including traditional mehndi and Sawan swings, which offer a beautiful glimpse of our rich folk art and culture. The Delhi Government is determined to celebrate these precious cultural heritages and traditions of the country with great joy and reach out to as many people as possible and connect them with the coming generations.
