In what was otherwise a straightforward pre-season friendly, Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga had to be taken off on a stretcher after a two-footed challenge from Valencia's José Gayà.
In the immediate aftermath of Gayà's lunging tackle, a scuffle broke out near the touchline, and the Valencia defender was shown a straight red card.
Fortunately for Elanga, the injury does not appear to be serious.
The Newcastle and Sweden forward is reported to be "up and walking" despite some "bruising to the shin."
The Magpies went on to win the match 2-1, claiming a pre-season trophy in Matthias Jaissle's first game in charge.
