The Spaniard won Marrakech as his maiden ATP crown earlier this year. "I think I did a great job in the return game," Jodar said after his win over Musetti. "Generally, I played very solid, trying to attack when I could. Lorenzo is a top player, so I knew I had to play pressure moments well. So I am super happy with my performance today."

Meanwhile, Musetti lavished praise on Jodar and dubbed him as one of the favourites to win the title in Montreal. "I probably faced him during the best two weeks of his career. I don't know how things will go this week, but he is certainly playing excellent tennis and has been in great form since Washington. "He looks physically and mentally fit, he has a lot of confidence and is showing a very high level. He is one of the favorites here. I already knew before the match started that it would be difficult. Congratulations to him on these two victories, and we will see if I can get my revenge at the next tournaments," he said.
