Namo Bharat Train Survey: Significant progress has been made regarding the proposed Namo Bharat Rail (Regional Rapid Transit System) project connecting Meerut and Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand government has released the first installment for the route survey, marking the start of the survey process. This project will advance efforts to develop rapid and modern rail connectivity between Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand.

Survey work begins; cooperation sought from various departments

During the survey, necessary information will be gathered from municipal bodies, local authorities, and relevant departments associated with the proposed rail corridor. Additionally, master plans, utility-related data, and land records will be examined to finalize the route's layout.

Proposed 78-kilometer track in Uttarakhand

The total route of the proposed Namo Bharat Rail is estimated to be around 150 kilometers long. Of this, approximately 72 kilometers fall within Uttar Pradesh, while 78 kilometers are proposed within Uttarakhand. In Uttarakhand, the rail corridor will run from Haridwar to Rishikesh, where the final station is proposed.

Proposal to pass through nine cities

According to the preliminary proposal, the Namo Bharat Rail could pass through Meerut, Sakoti, Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar, Purkaji, Roorkee, Bhagwanpur, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. However, the final route will be determined following the survey and technical assessments.

Boost for Char Dham Yatra and tourism

The state government believes that upon completion, the project will establish fast rail connectivity between Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand. This is expected to provide a significant boost to the Char Dham Yatra, religious tourism, industrial activities, and daily commuting.

Some stations temporarily closed due to Kanwar Yatra

According to the NCRTC, certain entry and exit gates at the 17 Namo Bharat stations located between Ghaziabad and Modinagar will remain temporarily closed until August 12 due to the Kanwar Yatra. Parking facilities at some stations will also be limited during this period. These measures have been implemented with security and traffic management in mind.
