AICTE-Mitacs Internship Program: Every year, 300 undergraduate students from engineering, management, pharmacy, and architecture courses will have the opportunity to undertake a fully funded 12-week research internship in Canada. Under the AICTE-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program, Indian students will be able to conduct research at leading Canadian universities over a three-year period starting in 2027. These internships will take place between May and October.
Proficiency in English or French Required for GRI
The application process for the 2027 program has commenced, with the deadline set for September 16. AICTE Chairman Professor Yogesh Singh stated that applicants must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in an undergraduate program at a recognized institution. Additionally, candidates are required to possess proficiency in either English or French.
Agreement Signed in March
A bilateral agreement regarding education, research collaboration, and talent mobility was signed during the Canadian Prime Minister's visit to India in March. The GRI program was expanded as part of this initiative. According to government reports, Canada remains a preferred destination for Indian students pursuing higher education; in 2024, 427,000 Indian students traveled there.
