Manchester United are heading into a crucial spell in the transfer market, with Michael Carrick looking to add reinforcements before the Premier League season begins and ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League. The transfer window shuts on 2 September.

According to talkSPORT, United are pressing on with their interest in Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba despite his valuation being above £75 million, while the club are also keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams. A move for Alex Scott is no longer being pursued because of financial demands in the region of £80 million to £100 million.

Aurelien Tchouameni is at the top of their shortlist, even though he is close to signing a new deal with Real Madrid. Eduardo Camavinga is another name under consideration after intermediaries offered him to Premier League clubs, although his injury record and likely fee could make any deal difficult.

Newcastle full-back Lewis Hall is still being considered and is believed to be open to a transfer, with a bid of around £60 million likely to test Newcastle’s stance. Myles Lewis-Skelly is admired because he can operate both in midfield and at left-back, but Arsenal are unwilling to let him leave.

In attack, Everton’s Senegal forward Iliman Ndiaye is appreciated for his versatility, with Everton asking for £75 million and interest from Al Hilal potentially making any move more complicated. Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr is also being tracked after scoring 21 goals in 45 matches, though his club are keen to keep him.
