Senior figures in positions of influence at La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid would not be opposed to the possible sale of Vinícius Jr. before the summer transfer window closes. This comes amid growing speculation over the Brazilian’s situation in the Spanish capital.
Sorting out Vinícius’ future has become something of a priority for those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu in recent weeks.
With the Brazilian’s current contract due to expire in the summer of 2027, Premier League champions Arsenal have made a sudden and aggressive push to sign Vinícius.
A fresh round of talks over a contract renewal has therefore been scheduled for the coming days, involving Florentino Pérez, his staff and the representatives of Real Madrid’s long-serving attacking talisman.
If those discussions do not unfold as hoped, however, several members of the board have made it clear that they would prefer a sale to be approved at the earliest possible opportunity. According to The Athletic, which reported on Tuesday:
‘Key figures at the club are in favour of a sale this month if no agreement is reached on an extension, in order to prevent Vinicius Jr potentially leaving as a free agent next summer.’
As a result, a final resolution to the saga could arrive as early as this week.
