FSSAI action against Dabur: New Delhi: Taking strict action against Dabur India, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed the company to immediately stop the sale of several food products being sold with “100%” claims. The company has also been asked to submit a report on the action taken within 15 days. According to FSSAI, Dabur made claims like “100% natural”, “100% pure”, “100% purity guaranteed”, “100% organic” and “100% tender coconut water”, which are against the Food Safety and Standards (Advertisement and Claims) Rules, 2018. The regulator says such claims are vague, unsubstantiated and misleading to consumers.

The products that have been taken action include organic apple cider vinegar, organic honey, homestyle coconut milk, sesame oil and cow ghee. FSSAI has also alleged that the “Organic India” logo was used on Dabur Himalayan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Dabur Organic Honey, which has been found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards (Organic Foods) Regulations, 2017.

The regulator said that the company had earlier been issued notices to remove such claims. Now Dabur has been directed to stop the sale of these products with immediate effect and submit a report within 15 days.
