In July alone, Vietnam’s largest island off the southern province of An Giang welcomed 1.03 million tourists, up 31% year-on-year, including 176,000 foreign arrivals, up 82%, according to a report from the province’s Department of Tourism.
Phu Quoc has set its target of welcoming 8.5 million tourists this year including 2 million foreigners.

International arrivals to Phu Quoc have surged in recent months, driven by new direct routes, favorable visa policies, and expanding tourism infrastructure.
Vietnam’s newest carrier, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, began operating one daily round-trip direct flight between Singapore and Phu Quoc starting July 25.
The island’s 30-day visa exemption policy has also made travel more convenient for foreign visitors by simplifying entry procedures.
Phu Quoc was named one of the world’s 10 most appealing islands for 2026 by online travel platform Expedia, which called it an emerging Southeast Asia’s luxury hub and a standout choice for travelers seeking high-end experiences.
Preparations for APEC 2027 are also accelerating infrastructure development on the island, with upgrades for its international airport, transport networks, accommodation facilities, convention venues, and urban spaces.
