Bollywood made it look magical, but reality is “messy and smelly”: Indian female traveller reveals what Spain's La Tomatina festival is really like before you spend lakhs to attend

For many Indian travellers, attending Spain's famous La Tomatina festival is a bucket-list experience. All thanks to the unforgettable and dreamy tomato fight sequence in the blockbuster cinema Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD). Travellers often end up spending lakhs just to recreate that perfect ZNMD moment. But the reality is beyond throwing tomatoes joyfully at each other.


Indian solo travel creator Anali Gupta (@analligupta) recently sparked a conversation online after sharing her honest review of attending La Tomatina in Spain. In her video, she goes non-stop about how it actually feels to be a part of such a messy fest. Instead of cinematic fun, she described the festival as chaotic, exhausting and mentally tougher than she had imagined.
