Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who remains a transfer target for Arsenal, is reportedly unhappy following Eddie Howe’s departure from his role as manager.

Journalist Indy Kaila wrote on X about Guimaraes’ reaction to Howe leaving, a development that was reported earlier this morning.

As per the update, the Brazil international is now due to hold a meeting with Newcastle tomorrow as uncertainty continues over his future at St James’ Park.

The post said: “Bruno Guimarães is really disappointed that his manager/friend Eddie Howe has left This will affect his future and he has called a meeting with the club owners for tomorrow.”

This comes with Ben Jacobs also providing an update on Guimaraes and Arsenal, with the talkSPORT journalist having previously indicated that discussions were progressing.

Jacobs has again stated that Guimaraes is Arsenal’s top target, and matters could move towards a resolution by Friday, with the 28-year-old potentially valued at around £85m.

Howe’s departure was confirmed today, and it comes after Newcastle United also saw key pair Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon leave the club this summer.

With Guimaraes also appearing likely to move on and join Arsenal, it is shaping up to be a deeply unsettled summer for Newcastle, who may find it difficult to bounce back.

Losing even one major player is difficult for any side, but to see three leave at once, together with the manager, has created complete turmoil for Newcastle.

Arsenal supporters will hope this finally helps them complete a deal for Guimaraes after such a long period of speculation linking the former Lyon player with the club.

It has been a quiet summer so far for the Gunners, with Christos Tzolis their only notable signing up to now, but Guimaraes would represent an outstanding addition.

The Brazilian is regarded as one of the finest players in the Premier League in his role, and his arrival would give Mikel Arteta greater freedom to rotate and rest players such as Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi more regularly.
