Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is once again in the headlines for his generosity. According to reports, the actor has launched a relief campaign to help the people affected by the floods in Assam. It is being told that relief material will be delivered in a phased manner through his organization Being Human. In this campaign, along with providing food, medicines, drinking water, temporary shelter and basic facilities, support will also be given in reconstruction of schools and hospitals.

Relief campaign started through 'Being Human'

According to media reports, Salman Khan has started relief work with the help of his NGO Being Human and a fan club. In the first phase of the campaign, ready-to-eat food packets and other essential items are being distributed to the flood affected families. In the coming phases, ration kits, construction materials and other necessary assistance will be provided to the needy people, so that the flood affected families can return to normal life.

Essential goods from medicines to sanitary pads will be delivered

According to reports, Salman Khan's team will not be limited to food only. Under the relief campaign, a plan has been made to deliver medicines, clean drinking water, sanitary pads, mosquito repellents and other essential items to the affected areas. It is being told that Salman Khan is among the few Bollywood stars who have started relief work at the grassroots level in Assam.

Situation becomes serious due to flood in Assam

The flood situation in Assam has become extremely serious due to continuous heavy rains since mid-July and incidents of cloudburst in the upper areas. The situation worsened especially around 18 and 19 July, with Upper Assam being among the most affected areas. According to reports, lakhs of people had to leave their homes, while many people even lost their lives. Relief agencies are continuously engaged in rescue and rehabilitation work in the affected areas.

Relief work continues, situation gradually improving

According to recent reports, the water level has started decreasing gradually in many districts and there are signs of improvement in the situation. However, thousands of families are still living in relief camps and temporary shelters. It is being told that 69 people have died so far, while relief and rehabilitation work is going on continuously.

Bhumi Pednekar and Adil Hussain also raised awareness

Apart from Salman Khan, actress Bhumi Pednekar and actor Adil Hussain have also appealed to the people for help in supporting the Assam flood victims through social media. Both the artists are constantly inspiring people to contribute to relief work.

Talking about work front, these days Salman Khan is in discussion about his upcoming film 'Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace'. Apoorva Lakhia is directing this war drama film, while Chitrangada Singh is also playing an important role in the film. The release date of the film has currently been postponed due to post-production work. Apart from this, Salman Khan will also be seen in director Vanshi Pedipalli's film 'SVC 63'. Nayanthara is playing the lead role with him in this film.
