India’s medal hopes in Commonwealth Games 2026 have suffered a major setback. Birmingham Commonwealth Games silver medalist judoka Tulika Mann has been provisionally suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). Due to this, she will not be able to participate in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The action was taken after she failed to file Whereabout information three times in the last 12 months.

Out of the Commonwealth Games after Nada’s action

NADA has accused Tulika Manawar of violating Whereabouts rules three times in the last 12 months. Following this, the agency issued a notice to her and issued an interim suspension. Due to this, she has been dropped from the Indian Judo team. Speaking to the news agency, the judo coach said that Tulika had violated the wearabouts rule three times in 12 months. It was decided to drop her from the team after Nada issued a notice.

The player must provide information

According to WADA rules, an anti-doping rule violation occurs if three times in any 12-month period fail to submit information, miss a test, or both. Athletes in the registered testing group must regularly submit their training and accommodation information and allow 60 minutes per day to be available for out-of-competition testing. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action including suspension.

Won silver medal in 2022

Tulika Mann led India to glory by winning a silver medal in the women’s +78 kg category at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. She was also expected to do well in Glasgow and win a medal. Earlier on Thursday, the Indian judo team suffered another setback. Arun Kumar, a player in the men’s -73 kg category, was disqualified from the tournament. He has become the first Indian judoka to be disqualified from the competition after failing a pre-competition doping test.

The Indian Judo team is yet to leave for Glasgow. Judo competition starts from 31st July and the team will leave on 27th July.
