Once again the new variant of corona virus ‘BA 3.2’ has increased the concern of scientists around the world. According to the researchers, this variant has so many mutations that it is likely to easily outwit the immunity provided by a previous infection or vaccine. However, there is currently no evidence that this variant is more dangerous or lethal than other variants. It is a relief that so far not a single case of this variant has been reported in India, although the health department has been alerted.

How dangerous is the BA 3.2 variant?According to the report, the BA 3.2 variant has 70 to 75 major mutations in the spike protein compared to the earlier JN.1 variant. This variant was found in 30 percent of cases reported in Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands between November 2025 and January 2026. The presence of this variant has also been confirmed through testing of sewage and international travelers in 25 US states. Scientists are also keeping a close eye on its new sub-variants BA 3.2.1 and BA 3.2.2.

Alert after two deaths due to corona in Andhra Pradesh

In the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, the system has come into action due to the death of two persons and 8 new positive cases due to Corona. Among the dead was a 60-year-old man who was suffering from diabetes and kidney disease, while another was a 43-year-old patient. Among those who have tested positive are some who have been infected despite receiving two doses of the vaccine and a booster dose. Three patients are currently in home isolation, while one has been admitted to the hospital’s Covid ward.

Systematic monitoring and compliance with regulations

In Kadapa district, the administration is working hard to control the situation. Samples of 40 people have been taken from the affected areas, of which 10 have reported negative while others are awaited. The district in-charge minister has given strict instructions to the officials to strictly follow the Kovid-19 guidelines in the areas where cases have been detected. To prevent the spread of infection, the testing process has been accelerated and efforts are being made to create awareness among the people.

Expert advice: No need to panic but caution

Scientists have made it clear that there is no need to panic now, but caution is imperative. Modern systems such as genomic sequencing and sewage surveillance (wastewater monitoring) are helping to identify new variants. Citizens are appealed to avoid going to crowded places and follow Covid protocol. The situation is being continuously monitored so that any serious situation in future can be handled in time.
