Jalgaon (Maharashtra) [भारत]July 25 (ANI): Maharashtra Minister Aditi Sunil Tatkare announced that she will visit Jalgaon district in the coming days to inspect and resolve pending cases related to the Women and Child Development Department. The minister rejected political criticism over the state's key welfare initiatives and assured that the administration will continuously work to maximize benefits for women citizens.

Speaking to reporters, Maharashtra minister Aditi Sunil Tatkare confirmed plans to lead a dedicated review mission to Jalgaon to examine the welfare framework. "...In the coming days, I will definitely visit Jalgaon for my Women and Child Development Department. I will try to address any issues and developments related to the department here in my next visit...," she said.

Minister replied to the opposition on 'Ladki Brahmin' scheme

Emphasizing the government's determination under top leadership, Tatkare also defended the financial assistance initiative against recent political attacks. He said, "Ever since 'Dada' announced this (Ladki Behna) scheme in the budget, the opposition has been criticizing it. However, our efforts to run this scheme as successfully as possible will continue. Under the leadership of CM Devendra Fadnavis, and deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, we will always strive to extend these benefits to as many women as possible."

Shiv Sena (UBT) made serious allegations against the government

On the other hand, in early July, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant had alleged that names of lakhs of women were "removed" from Maharashtra's 'Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme' and termed it as a "gross violation of the Constitution".

Speaking to reporters, Sawant said lakhs of women had supported the ruling coalition during the assembly elections. "The names of lakhs of women were struck off from the scheme. It was they who fell into this temptation and voted for the current government, and it was not just women who voted; their families also voted. Now, what is the government going to do? They have canceled the names. We are suffering the consequences. This is public money," he said.

'Gross violation of the Constitution'

Sawant further alleged that this action is a violation of constitutional principles. He also alleged that the state is facing an economic crisis and accused the BJP-led grand alliance government of creating a dire situation for the state. "This is a gross violation of the Constitution, and that is why I want to raise serious questions regarding the actions of this government. Although the Assembly session has ended, the CAG report highlights several issues. The debt burden is staggering; it is going to be more than 100 per cent of the state revenue. This is the serious situation they have created for our state government," he said.

What is 'Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana'?

Launched by the Department of Women and Child Development and Government of Maharashtra, this scheme aims to provide financial assistance to eligible women across the state. Under the scheme, women in the age group of 21 to 65 years are given a financial benefit of Rs 1,500 through direct benefit transfer to improve their health and nutrition and strengthen their decisive role in the family.
