Siaha, July 24: Over 800 students from various educational institutions in Siaha participated in a peaceful sit-in demonstration on Friday, expressing solidarity with the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. They are advocating for reforms in the examination system and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to alleged irregularities in this year's NEET-UG examination.
The protest was organized by the Mara Students Organisation (MSO), General Headquarters, and took place at the Siaha Bazar Traffic Point, attracting students from schools and colleges throughout the area.
During the event, MSO President Judson KT Zephetha addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the students at Jantar Mantar are demanding increased transparency and necessary reforms in the education sector following the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
"A primary demand is for the Union Education Minister to take responsibility and resign. The youth of Siaha fully supports this movement," he stated.
Zephetha highlighted that students are no longer passive observers and urged leaders to prioritize the future of the younger generation.
"The concerns of students regarding their future must be acknowledged and addressed," he added.
Speakers at the event expressed their support for the nationwide movement and urged the government to provide compensation to families affected by the NEET examination controversy.
Participants carried banners and placards, chanting slogans in favor of the national campaign. A moment of silence was observed to honor those who reportedly lost their lives related to the controversy.
According to the organizers, this demonstration saw participation from over 800 students, marking it as one of the largest student solidarity events in the district in support of the ongoing protests across the nation.
