The government has appointed 1994 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer Naresh Pal Gangwar as the new Higher Education Secretary. Who is IAS Naresh Pal Gangwar?

Naresh Pal Gangwar is a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and hails from Rajasthan cadre. Before getting the new responsibility, he was working as Secretary in the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department. Due to his long administrative experience and work related to policy making, he has now been given the command of the Higher Education Department. As Higher Education Secretary, his work will be to monitor universities, colleges, policies related to higher education and many important schemes of the Central Government. At a time when questions are being raised on the transparency of the examination system, their role is considered more important than before.

What else changed in the Ministry of Education?

Under this reshuffle, the government has made former Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi the Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Ministry. Whereas T.K. Anil Kumar has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy. That means both the major departments of the Education Ministry will now work under the leadership of new officers.

Biggest challenge with new responsibility

Naresh Pal Gangwar has become the Higher Education Secretary at a time when restoring the confidence of students is considered to be one of the biggest priorities of the government. Increasing the credibility of the examination system, carrying forward administrative reforms related to higher education and effectively addressing the concerns of students will be the major challenges before him.
