West Indies Announce Squad for WI vs PAK Test Series: Roston Chase Named Captain As Joshua Bishop Earns Maiden Call-Up

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced its 15-member squad for the highly anticipated two-match ICC World Test Championship series against Pakistan, commencing on July 25. The selection sees Barbadian left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop earn his maiden Test call-up, a reward for his consistent domestic performances, while Jamaican batsman Kirk McKenzie returns to the Test arena after a two-year absence.

The squad, captained by Roston Chase, will however be without frontline fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who is unavailable due to personal reasons, and pacer Anderson Phillip, who has lost his place following the recent series against Sri Lanka.

New Faces and Returns

Joshua Bishop, a 26-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner, has been a standout performer in regional cricket. He claimed 91 wickets for Barbados Pride and the West Indies Academy across the past three West Indies Championship seasons, making him the leading wicket-taker during that period. His impressive first-class record boasts 116 wickets in 25 matches.

Kirk McKenzie, the 25-year-old top-order batsman, earns his first Test recall since 2024. His return comes after a strong showing in the recent West Indies Championship, where he amassed 323 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 64.60. McKenzie replaces opener John Campbell, who was ruled out due to a left hamstring strain sustained during the recently concluded One-Day International series against New Zealand.

Absences Noted

The West Indies will be without the services of pace spearhead Alzarri Joseph, who is unavailable for selection due to personal reasons. Fast bowler Anderson Phillip has also been omitted from the squad after his performance in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
