Chennai. Taking major action, Tamil Nadu Police has arrested the main opposition party DMK MLA GR Markandeyan. Due to this the political temperature of the state has increased. The MLA is accused of making extremely derogatory and life-threatening comments against state Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay during a public meeting. This high-profile arrest has created a stir in the political circles and DMK supporters staged a massive protest outside the Tuticorin SP office and raised slogans.

Let us tell you that it started with an inflammatory speech given during a public meeting held on July 18. Actually, Markandeyan was responding to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s comment from the stage in which he had talked about ‘searching for the father’. Political analysts believe that this comment of the Chief Minister was after DMK President M.K. lost the election in Kolathur constituency. It was made as a sarcasm on Stalin (DMK President MK Stalin).

What did the MLA say during his speech?

DMK MLA GR Markandeyan, who lost his temper in his address, openly threatened and said that the Chief Minister says in the Assembly that he is searching for his father. Shameless Chief Minister! We will see you in the assembly. He says he will close the doors of the assembly. If they close the doors, their bones will be broken. Try closing that assembly. The video of this objectionable and violent statement of the MLA quickly went viral on social media.

Action taken on TVK leader’s complaint

After this threatening statement of the MLA, a local leader of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) had lodged an official complaint in the police station. Realizing the seriousness of the matter, the police immediately took action and took the MLA into custody. At present, he is being continuously interrogated in the Tuticorin SP office.

It is worth noting that this is not the first case of statements against the Chief Minister by the leaders of the ruling party in Tamil Nadu this month. Earlier in the month, DMK MLA Anita Radhakrishnan from Tiruchendur was also arrested for making similar objectionable comments against the Chief Minister, though she was later released on bail following the legal process. After the latest arrest, there is a possibility of further increase in law and order and political tension in the state.
