Jude Bellingham reflects on England’s ‘unforgettable’ World Cup journey

Jude Bellingham shared an optimistic message after England secured third place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a thrilling 6-4 victory over France in the third-place play-off.

On Saturday, July 18, the 23-year-old English footballer reflected on his country’s tournament run, hailing England’s best World Cup finish in 60 years despite missing out on the grand finale.

“This group deserved to finish on this high note. Obviously not what we came for but the highest finish since ‘66 is something to build on,” Bellingham captioned the post.

He added, “Thank you again England fans, this summer has been unforgettable for so many reasons. It’s been a pleasure!”

The midfielder’s heartfelt post came just hours after England overcame Kylian Mbappé’s France 6-4 in the tournament’s third-place play-off, securing a bronze-medal finish.

Played at Miami Stadium in Florida, England took control of the match early, scoring four goals before half-time. France fought back strongly in the second half, but England held on to win 6-4 and secure their best World Cup finish since 1966.
