Some intriguing developments from Spain could catch the attention of Manchester United supporters.
Respected Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin has revealed a major update regarding Real Madrid’s transfer plans.
According to Valentin, Real Madrid have identified Rodri as the midfielder they want to bring into Jose Mourinho’s squad, with a move likely to be pursued after the World Cup.
Although Manchester City are expected to resist any approach, the fact that Rodri himself is keen on the move could make it increasingly difficult for the Premier League champions to hold firm.
Should Real Madrid succeed in their pursuit of the midfielder from the Etihad, it could indirectly benefit Manchester United’s own recruitment strategy.
If Rodri does arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos might also contemplate a significant offer for Aurelien Tchouaméni, though that possibility remains uncertain for now.
However, what appears much more likely is that Rodri’s signing would push Eduardo Camavinga—who is already on the club’s transfer list—closer to an exit from Madrid.
Camavinga’s versatility, allowing him to operate both as a full-back and a defensive midfielder, makes him an attractive target for United as they look to reinforce their midfield options.
Known for his dynamism and resistance to pressing, the French international combines top-tier ball-carrying ability, technical control, disciplined defensive tackling, and remarkable stamina—qualities that could perfectly complement United’s ongoing midfield rebuild.
Although the 20-time English champions have missed out on targets such as Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, they are still poised to assemble a stronger midfield unit than before.
With players like Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans already in the mix, the addition of Camavinga—once described as a “real war machine”—could transform United’s midfield revamp into a major success.
Given that Real Madrid reportedly aim to offload the Champions League-winning midfielder, INEOS may find an opportunity to secure him on favourable terms.
Ultimately, Real Madrid’s proposed move for Rodri could inadvertently deliver one of the most beneficial transfer openings of the summer to Manchester United.
