Before the monsoon session of Parliament, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam strategy Important meeting was held to decide (DMK Delimitation). Party chief MK Stalin, who is on a foreign tour, discussed with the MPs through video conference. Many political and state issues were discussed in detail in the meeting.
After the meeting, there were clear indications that DMK will raise issues to Tamil Nadu prominently in the upcoming monsoon session. The party’s stand on issues like Delimitation Bill, Cauvery water dispute and state’s rights was also clarified.
What was the decision on Delimitation Bill DMK Delimitation
According to party sources, DMK has decided to continue opposing the population-based delimitation bill in its current form. It was said in the meeting that the party will wait for the new bill and decide the future strategy after studying the provisions and recommendations included in it.
Mekedatu dam protested again
The resolution passed in the meeting accused the Karnataka government of not cooperating on Tamil Nadu’s share in the sharing of Kaveri river water. DMK reiterated its opposition to the Mekedatu Dam project and demanded the Central Government to set up a tribunal to resolve the dispute.
State rights issues will be raised in Parliament DMK Delimitation
DMK said that its MPs will strongly raise issues to Tamil Nadu’s rights, federal system and constitutional values in both houses of Parliament. After the meeting, MK Stalin said on social media that every MP of the party will work as the voice of the people of Tamil Nadu and every bill of the Center will be evaluated from the perspective of state rights and the Constitution.
There was discussion about Congress also
During the meeting, political relations with Congress were also discussed (DMK Delimitation). According to party sources, Stalin advised the MPs to maintain distance from the Congress. He reportedly said that political differences between the two parties have increased and MPs should proceed as per the strategy decided by the party.
