PM Modi Australia Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Australia in the second phase of his three-nation tour. On reaching Melbourne on Wednesday night, he was given a red carpet welcome and a guard of honour. On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi will meet his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese. During this, both the leaders will discuss further strengthening the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Modi and Albanese will also co-chair the third annual India-Australia Summit. Many important issues including critical minerals, trade, defense cooperation, maritime security and uranium are expected to be discussed in the meeting.
PM Modi Australia Visit: 10 big things
1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday night in the second phase of his three-nation tour. There he was given a red carpet welcome and was given a guard of honour.
2. PM Modi will meet Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today on Thursday. The two leaders will co-chair the third annual India-Australia summit.
3. In the meeting, there will be discussion on increasing cooperation in many areas to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Australia.
4. The most important issue of discussion will be critical minerals. These minerals are considered very important for clean energy, electric vehicles and advanced industry. Both countries are working on strengthening the supply chain.
5. There is also a possibility of an agreement between India and Australia regarding uranium supply. According to Australian media reports, an agreement can be reached in this direction during this visit.
6. India and Australia signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement in 2014, but till now uranium exports have been limited. The reason for this is to ensure that uranium is used only for peaceful purposes, such as power generation.
7. On the possible uranium deal, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that more information will be shared with Prime Minister Modi on this subject. He also said that there have been positive talks on this issue between the two countries.
8. Defense cooperation and maritime security are also likely to be discussed in detail between the two leaders. Especially in the Indo-Pacific region, both the countries want to further strengthen their strategic partnership.
9. Prime Minister Modi was on a three-day visit to Indonesia before reaching Australia. There, 14 agreements were signed between India and Indonesia in many areas including critical minerals, maritime security. The two countries also discussed possible defense cooperation to the BrahMos cruise missile system.
10. India is Australia’s fifth largest trading partner. About 10 lakh people of Indian origin live in Australia. Prime Minister Modi will address the Indian community in a big program organized in Melbourne on Thursday evening. After this he will leave for New Zealand on Friday and return to India from there.
