Aman Sehrawat won gold medal

budapest [हंगरी]July 16 (ANI): India's Olympic bronze medalist and U23 Asian champion Aman Sehrawat produced a stellar performance to win the gold medal in the men's 57kg freestyle category at the Paulik Imre, Varga Janos and Kozma Istvan Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament 2026. Continuing his impressive form on the global circuit, Aman Sehrawat secured a decisive victory over Georgia's Roberti Dingashvili 13-3 on technical superiority in the championship bout, according to a press release. The 22-year-old freestyle wrestler, who created history as India's youngest individual Olympic medalist at the Paris Games, added another prestigious title to her growing international resume, which also includes becoming India's first U23 World Wrestling Champion.

Deepak won bronze, eyes on two more medals

The Indian national contingent's medal tally increased in the 61kg freestyle category as Deepak won a bronze medal after a tough fight. In a high-scoring tactical encounter, Deepak showed immense composure to defeat Nureddin Novruzov of Azerbaijan 9-8 in the third-place play-off. Meanwhile, the Indian team remains in contention for two more podium finishes in the 65kg freestyle division. Kumar Mohit will face Kazakhstan's Nachin Kular in the bronze medal match, while his compatriot Vishal Kaliraman will take on another Kazakh wrestler, Osumzhan Dastanbek, in their respective third-place play-offs.

Competition continues in other weight categories also

The contingent will look to capitalize on this momentum tomorrow when competition resumes in the remaining men's freestyle weight categories, 79kg, 92kg, 97kg and 125kg. Additionally, India's women's wrestling campaign will also begin tomorrow with preliminary round competitions in the 50kg and 55kg weight categories.
