Kolar, July 15: In an impressive display at the Women's Professional Golf Tour (WPGT) Stage 10, Ridhima Dilawari took the lead after the first round held at the Zion Hills Golf Course.
Having already secured three titles in the first six tournaments of the season, Ridhima finished the round with a score of 4-under 68, maintaining a one-shot lead without a single bogey.
After finishing T-8 and T-9 in the last two stages, Ridhima made a strong comeback this time. She is one shot ahead of last week's winner, Vani Kapoor, seasoned player Aman Deep Drall, and Vidhatri Urs, who is working to regain her form. All three players scored 3-under 69 in the first round, closely trailing Ridhima.
Ridhima aims to return to the Ladies European Tour and is in excellent form ahead of the upcoming LET event, the Women's Indian Open, later this year. She started strong with a birdie on the opening hole and maintained par on the next eight holes. She added birdies on the 10th, 13th, and 14th holes, finishing the last four holes with pars.
Vani Kapoor, a five-time winner last year, made seven birdies but also recorded two bogeys and a double bogey in her round of 69. Vidhatri Urs scored six birdies against three bogeys for her 69, while Aman Deep Drall managed five birdies despite back-to-back bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes.
Sanvi Somu, considered a strong contender for her first title on the Women's Professional Golf Tour, also had a good start. The former amateur, now a professional, finished fifth with a score of 1-under 71, which included one bogey on the front nine and two birdies on the back nine.
Ananya Datar and Kashika Mishra both carded even-par 72, placing them sixth, while Mannat Barar and Riya Jadon tied for eighth with scores of 1-over 73.
A large group of six players, including Prakriti Shastri, Jasmin Shekhar, Shagun Narayan, Neha Tripathi, Ananti Vivek, and Ananya Sood, shared the tenth position, all finishing with a score of 2-over 74. Other notable names include Tvesa Malik, who scored 75, tying for 16th with young Lavanya Jadon.
