Scientists searching for life in the depths of the universe have found a very exciting and surprising thing. This thing found floating in space could be an important link related to the origin of life. Astronomers have discovered sugar molecules in a giant molecular cloud named "G+0.693−0.027" near the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Surprisingly, it is a natural sugar called 'Erythrulose', which is found in raspberries and fake tan products on earth. Scientists have detected such a complex carbon sugar in interstellar space for the first time using a highly sensitive radio telescope.

Scientists have detected this sugar in a giant molecular cloud named "G+0.693−0.027" near the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. The most interesting thing is that it is the same natural sugar called 'Erythrulose' which is found in raspberries and artificial suntan products on earth.

This is a major success for scientists, because for the first time they have discovered such a complex carbon sugar in the interstellar medium (space between the stars) using a very powerful radio telescope.

Why is this a major turning point in the search for aliens?

• Basis of life: Sugar is not just a food item, but it is the backbone of the DNA and RNA present in our body. Sugar molecules are essential for the origin of life and biological processes.
  
• Challenge to old theory: The old theory of astrochemistry used to say that molecules in space gradually grow larger by adding one carbon atom each. But erythrulose has four carbon atoms. Its discovery is a big surprise for scientists.
  
• Sugar came to earth from space: Scientists estimate that about 4 billion years ago, when there was a heavy rain of comets and meteorites on the Earth (called Late Heavy Bombardment), about 5 million to 50 million tons of this sugar would have reached the Earth. This may have helped life to flourish for the first time on Earth.
