Rahul Gandhi’s silent support is hidden behind every step of UP Congress, understand how?

Before the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the tussle regarding alliance between Congress and Samajwadi Party is intensifying. The statements being made by Congress are such that SP is being forced to fight back. The continuous statements made by Congress leaders are clearly making the Samajwadi Party uncomfortable. In fact, Congress leaders are giving direct statements in the media regarding the alliance and are questioning SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

In such a situation, Congress is continuously putting pressure on Samajwadi Party. It is discussed that this pressure is being created to take maximum seats from SP in the upcoming assembly elections of UP. Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam, MP Imran Masood and UP Congress Chief Ajay Rai are at the forefront in creating this pressure.

Congress will fight with equality and respect

Rajendra Pal Gautam gave clear indications on a possible alliance with Samajwadi Party after taking over the post of UP Congress in-charge. He had said that Congress is not against the alliance, but it will contest elections only on the basis of respect and equality. He said that the alliance with SP may continue but Congress will no longer play the role of younger brother in UP. Gautam said that Congress will contest the elections with equality and respect.

Imran Masood is at the forefront in attacking

Apart from this, Congress MP Imran Masood has accused the Samajwadi Party dozens of times of remaining silent on issues to Muslims and Dalits. Also said that if Akhilesh Yadav’s party has to form an alliance with Congress for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, then it should be done honestly. He asked whether Muslims are just a vote bank? Masood, MP from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has said that Samajwadi Party leaders keep attacking me. What will you gain by targeting me? They should take on BJP instead.

finalize the alliance

Masood is attacking the SP because of the Muslim community that stands with the SP. He said on Monday that mosques of Muslims are being demolished, madrassas are being demolished, injustice is being done to Muslims and atrocities are being done on Dalits. We should speak on these issues but SP leaders are not doing so.

Meanwhile, Imran Masood said, ‘SP people talk about alliance. If you really want to fight BJP, then finalize the alliance. Do this honestly. If you don’t want to do anything on the ground, it means you are not honest. If the opposition government does not come, then we (Muslims) will have to disappear.

Imran Masood’s attack on SP

Imran Masood has said that there is no sourness in relations with SP, but he is showing a mirror to it. However, both Rajendra Pal Gautam and Imran Masood, after attacking the SP and demanding equal share in the alliance, also indicated that the final decision will be taken only after the party leadership and alliance talks. That is, he did not refuse alliance with SP, but kept the condition that the alliance should be on the basis of respect and equality.

Is it tacit support of Rahul Gandhi?

In fact, in the last 2022 assembly elections, Congress, contesting alone, could garner only 2 per cent of the votes and only two of its MLAs won. But, in this election Congress is saying that it wants 200 seats in UP. But, Congress also knows that SP will never give it 200 seats but it knows that due to this pressure, Akhilesh Yadav and his party will give decent number of seats to Congress.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi wants to take forward the India alliance and opposition unity but at the same time he also wants to strengthen his Congress. In South India, Congress is running the government in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu (with TVK). But its situation in North India is very bad. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress won 6 seats in UP by fighting in alliance with SP. Congress leaders are arguing that its 6 MPs won not on the strength of Samajwadi Party but on the popularity of Rahul Gandhi.

What is the purpose of Congress?

In such a situation, in view of the 2024 elections, it should be given equal number of seats to contest. Rahul Gandhi knows these equations very well, that is why Rajendra Pal Gautam and Imran Masood are able to speak so openly against SP and Akhilesh Yadav. Without the consent of the top leadership, the state unit of Congress cannot speak on a big thing like alliance. Overall, Rahul Gandhi wants to fight SP by taking maximum seats by putting his leaders forward.
