The number of Pakistani players in Major League Cricket (MLC) may reduce in future. The reason for this is not being said to be a political dispute, but the so-called NOC (No Objection Certificate) policy of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to a report by PakPassion, many franchise owners are angry with the attitude of PCB and are considering avoiding signing further Pakistani players.
It has been claimed in the report that PCB demands 25 thousand US dollars (about Rs 24 lakh) for issuing NOC for every Pakistani player. According to the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC), NOC is necessary to play in any foreign T20 league. Fast bowler Haris Rauf is the only Pakistani player playing in MLC this season. He is a part of the San Francisco Unicorns team and according to the report, his franchise has paid this fee.
Franchise owners complained to Mohsin Naqvi
According to the report, it is common in other leagues of the world to make some payments to the home boards of the players. For example, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gives about 10 to 20 percent of the auction amount of foreign players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the respective cricket boards. However, there is no such official policy in MLC. It has been claimed that PCB is the only board which is demanding such separate fees.
Owners raised the issue with Naqvi
The report also said that the franchise owners raised the issue with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. He said that it is wrong to demand such a huge amount without any public rule. Despite this, PCB called it its right. It was also claimed in the report that there is no guarantee of NOC even after depositing the fees. If a new NOC has to be issued later, the franchisee may have to pay again.
