The biggest match in world football is just around the corner.

Spain have become the first side to secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup final, following a commanding 2-0 victory over France in Arlington, Texas.

They will now await the winners of Wednesday night’s high-stakes semi-final clash between long-time rivals England and Argentina. The team that loses that encounter will face France in the third-place play-off to be held in Miami on Saturday.

Argentina are chasing a historic achievement, aiming to become only the third nation to win consecutive World Cup titles — a feat previously accomplished by Italy in 1934 and 1938, and by Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

The 2026 World Cup final, featuring Spain against either England or Argentina, is scheduled for Sunday, 19 July.

The match will kick off at 8:00 pm BST in the UK, which corresponds to 3:00 pm local time (ET).

The grand final will take place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

As per FIFA’s sponsorship guidelines, the stadium is being referred to as the New York/New Jersey Stadium for the duration of the tournament.

The open-air venue has a regular capacity of 82,500, which has been adjusted to 80,663 for the World Cup. It serves as the home ground for both the New York Giants and New York Jets of the NFL.

So far, MetLife Stadium has hosted seven World Cup fixtures, including England’s 2-0 victory over Panama which confirmed their top spot in Group L.

The stadium was also the site of Norway’s stunning round-of-16 win against Brazil and France’s triumph over Sweden in the round of 32.

Other notable matches at the venue include Ecuador’s thrilling 2-1 win over Germany during the group stage, as well as Senegal’s defeats to France and Norway, and Brazil’s opening draw with Morocco.

The United States is planning a Super Bowl-style spectacle for the World Cup final, with several major international artists confirmed for a special 11-minute half-time performance.

Justin Bieber has been announced as part of the star-studded line-up, which also features Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus performing alongside Coldplay.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is directing the half-time show, which will raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

As is tradition, a closing ceremony will take place before kick-off at MetLife Stadium to celebrate the conclusion of the tournament. Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams, and IShowSpeed have all been confirmed to participate.

Jennifer Hudson is slated to perform the American national anthem, ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’, ahead of the start of the final.
