The Goodwood Festival of Speed is always packed with thrilling automotive reveals, but among this year’s highlights, one standout wasn’t a car at all—it was a pickup truck. Known as the Urban Widetrack Avontur, this creation comes from the British aftermarket tuner Urban Automotive, which has reimagined the Land Rover Defender 110 into what the Milton Keynes-based firm describes as a “luxury sports-leisure truck.”
For the Widetrack Avontur, Urban Automotive has completely redesigned the Defender’s rear structure, replacing it with a hand-crafted carbon-fibre pickup bed. The result is one of the boldest and most distinctive Land Rover transformations to date. While it technically functions as a pickup, it’s hard to imagine many owners loading it with tools or garden supplies—the Avontur seems far better suited for the marina than the hardware store.
Other extensive carbon-fibre additions include a new bonnet, side vents, and side trims, which are matched with widened fender arches, front aerodynamic blades, gloss-black side steps, and high-intensity LED daytime running lights. The interior is equally refined, featuring quilted and perforated leather upholstery, along with Recaro sport seats for added support and comfort. Completing the package are custom-engineered structural enhancements, an integrated modular utility rail system, and a distinctive rear wheel cover. As for wheels, buyers can choose from multiple 24-inch alloy rim designs to match their personal taste.
Although pricing details have not yet been disclosed, the combination of Land Rover craftsmanship, bespoke construction, and extensive carbon-fibre use clearly indicates a premium price point. Road & Track contacted Urban Automotive to confirm whether the Avontur will be available to customers in the United States, but the company did not respond before publication. Regardless of its market availability, the Avontur is not meant for mass appeal—it’s built for those seeking exclusivity. And in that respect, it stands out as one of the most unique Defender-based creations we’ve seen so far.
