If you wish to add or change the email ID linked to your Aadhaar, you no longer need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new feature in the Aadhaar App that allows users to update their email ID from the comfort of their homes.

This facility came into effect on July 1, 2026. Furthermore, UIDAI has decided to offer this service completely free of charge for the initial six months.

What has changed?
Previously, people had to visit an Aadhaar center to add or update their email ID and mobile number in their Aadhaar records. Now, however, this entire process can be completed online via UIDAI's official Aadhaar App.

No fee until December 31
Typically, updating an email ID in Aadhaar incurred a fee of ₹75. However, UIDAI has currently waived this charge.
If you update your email ID using the Aadhaar App between July 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026, you will not be charged any fee.
